The New York Botanical Gardens follows two sets of guidelines. They have an in-house
set of guidelines for research for drug-discovery research arrangements as well as
the National Cancers Institute's Letter of Intent for research in collaboration with
the NCI and a number of Latin American countries. Michael Balick enclosed an article
that documents the creation of the world's first ethnobiomedical reserve in collaboration
with the three organizations listed below. The Terra Nova Rainforest Reserve is an
example of the benefits that could arise between pharmaceutical research and local
communities and is an excellent example of implementation of the Biodiversity Research
Protocols proposed by the Pew Conservation Fellows.
