Personal Bio/Other Information:
Lucy Bernholz is the President of Blueprint R & D, a private consulting firm that advises California foundations and corporations on their grantmaking strategies. She is also the founder of the California Community Philanthropy Research Project and a collaborator with the Nonprofit Studies Program at University of California. She has written numerous articles on California philanthropy, is spearheading a new research project on philanthropy in the American West and works as a consultant to help apply the findings of that research. She has worked as a program officer at private and community foundations. Bernholz holds a B.A. in history from Yale University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Stanford University. Her dissertation, "Private Philanthropy and Public Schools: San Francisco in the 1960s and 1970s" is one of the few historic analyses of foundation philanthropy in California.
