We are a network of immigration researchers around the Bay Area, including the three University of California campuses (Santa Cruz, Berkeley and Davis), as well as independent scholars, college faculty, and union staff. The Collaborative was created in Fall 2000.
The purpose of the Collaborative is improve the state of knowledge on immigration to the Bay Area and Northern California by improving communication among researchers, sharing information, and encouraging joint work.
This means, among other things:
o Meeting twice a year for discussion and presentation of research
o Maintaining a webpage for posting conference announcements, book tips, working papers, etc.
o Maintaining an email list-serve for announcements and discussion
o Holding workshops and conferences on immigration and immigrants in Northern California
o Encouraging collaborative research projects
o Sharing knowledge about research funding
