Morphology, Distribution, and Habitat (After Mason, 1957)

The capsule is oblong-obovoid, of about the same length as the perianth (or sometimes longer), obtuse or retuse. The seeds are reticulate. The plant is found in boggy places on hillsides or valley flats, in Coast Ranges from Monterey County north to Del Norte County, Sierra Nevada foothills at medium elevations from Fresno County north to Siskiyou County, coastal southern Califronia and at low elevations in the mountains, San Joaquin Valley and Lower Sacramento Valley; Pacific States.
